David Osler The Architect:

David W. Osler (born January 9, 1921) is an Ann Arbor-based architect, who served in WWII. He founded David W. Osler Associates in 1958. The firm won 22 honor awards and a finalist out of almost 1500 entries to design the Vietnam Ware Memorial in Washington D.C. He was elevated to the college of Fellows of the AIA in 1981, a lifetime honor for design excellence and contributions to the profession. His work has been featured in places like U of M Museum of Art. Osler began his career in residential, but also worked on projects like St. Clare of Assisi Episcopal Church, Oslund Condominiums, Geddes Lakes Townhouses, and even Restored Michigan Theater with Quinn Evans.

His career which span 5 decades of Michigan architectural history. When designing a home, he took in consideration the person, functionality, privacy, and fitting the design to the site.  It was important how you entered a home and how it opened up to and what happens as you travel through the space. Osler was about open plans when it came to social spaces, like living rooms, but privacy in bedrooms and bathrooms.
